1 interface with multiple IP addresses

Hi,

We have several servers wit 1 physical interface but multiple IP addresses assigned. We then use he different IP addresses for different services.

As an example, we could have the pop3 process run on IP 10.10.1.1 and the smtp process on 10.10.1.2

When I want to add a port monitor on our host for the smtp process, it says it cannot connect. The problem is that Orion tries to connect to the main IP and not the secondary one. Is there a way to somehow tell orion this host has 2 ip addresses?

Add a new node using the second IP Address and then assign your application monitor to that new node.

I thought of that workaround as well, but then I would have several odes for just 1 machine which doen't make things clear.Is there no other way?

Could this be added as a feature request?

Do we have this feature implemented in the latest version? If so, please share the same. I'm evaluating both ManageEngine and Solarwinds.

ManageEngine does have more features. Need to check with Solarwinds too. Kindly help.

Sometimes, I do add the second node with the second IP address, I do this really frequently when the other address is a cluster IP. Other times it doesn't make since. Yes having the tcp port monitor with the IP field would be optimal, but for now the workaround I use is to create a powershell monitor and use test-netconnection.
