We have an evaluatiaon install of NCM that has expired, but we've since purchased the software so now we'll have access to a real registration key. Before we activate it, however, we need to change the name of our server. As I understand it, SolarWinds uses the computer name to generate its license key, so how should we proceed in this particular situation? Should we just uninstall the existing NCM, re-name the server, then install a fresh copy with out newly purchased license? But if we do that, I assume we would lose all the devices we'd discovered and all the settings we configured, correct? Ideally, we'd like to re-name the server, apply the new registration key and get the software up and running again with all of our discovered devices and settings intact.
Any ideas on how to proceed?
