Managing Servers with NCM... Possible?

Is there any way to manage servers with NCM or is this pretty much where Lan Surveyor comes in?

NCM can run inventory on servers using SNMP.

What would you like to manage on these servers?

Can you elaborate what you mean by "manage servers"? NCM does include some basic inventory reporting for Windows-based servers, but it can't run scripts or perform config backup operations if that's what you're looking for.

Ok, I see what you mean with the inventory reports as I just got that working.

By manage I was refering to some of the capabilities it has with the network device such as running scripts and backing up files/configurations.

I think Chris in his post answerd my question in that the inventory stuff is about as much as I am going to get with the servers.

I guess my last question on this; does this also work for Linux or is the inventory capability Windows specfic?

Well, it would seem that several of the inventory reports, specifically "Installed Software" are Windows specific.

Are there any plans in the future to include support for Linux on these reports?

We have no current plans to enhance these for Linux, but if there are more requests, we might consider it.
