Monitoring the Monitor

Hi,

We have a single license for NPM. We monitor everything in our network, even the server that NPM is running on. The gaping hole in our design is that we don't monitor the NPM server from a different server. If NPM or the server NPM is running on stops working we won't know it. Does Solarwinds sell or provide a scaled down version that would simply monitor the monitor? I don't want to buy a full license to do this, I just want to ensure that the NPM is up and functioning.

How have any of you solved this? I could set up a simple nagios server to do it :-)
