Wake on LAN within NPM

Is there a way I can add Wake on LAN to the Integrated Tools Options on the NPM website. We have a large branch network, and each remote site has a W2K3 server. If the server goes offline for any reason, we have to talk non technical users through bringing the server back on. It would great if you could just rught click on the server, and choose Wake on LAN.

Hi Phil,

If you have the Toolset Integration configured and Engineer's Toolset installed on your Desktop, you can follow that post: and then modify it to run the Wake-On-Lan utility.

\Program Files\Solarwinds\Engineer's Toolset\WakeOnLAN.exe

I did not test it but in theory that should work :-).

Hi Yann,

Thanks for coming back to me so quickly. I've had a look at the post above, and have come across the same problem as one of the users on there. I'm running v9.1 and and the "SWtoolset.menuOptions" file isn't there. Any suggestions?

Before you kill yourself trying to get WoL integrated into Orion have you tested it on your servers? I'm not aware of too many servers that support WoL since that's usually a desktop function and not a requirement for servers which usually remain on at all times.

We've used it successfully - basically our "branch servers" are desktop PC's running 2k3. I was just trying to cut out having to fire up WoL manually - anything to make life a little easier!!

For those modifying the SwToolset.MenuOptions file to customize your Orion/Toolset integration menu the file you will want to edit now is at:

<LocalApplicationData>\SolarWinds\ToolsetIntegrationTray\Menu.xml

Where <LocalApplicationData> = <ProfileFolder>\Local Settings\ Application Data

This is for the current method of Orion/Toolset integration which started with Toolset 10.6.
