Hello, I was wondering if you can help me. We have been using Orion 7.8 for a while now and are migrating to 8.1. We currently have alert suppression enabled using the old basic alerts and it works. I am trying to replicate this alert using the Adv. Alerts, but it is not working. I have rang SW support and they inform that this CANNOT be done via 1 Adv. Alert and that I will need 2 Adv. Alerts to do this. I fail to believe that this is true. Please see below an explanation of our setup. I would appreciate any help. Thanks. Router 1 is connected to Switch 1. Switch 1 is connected to Switch 2
10 rack devices are connected to Switch 1 & 2. *This alert is for the rack devices that are connected to Switch 1 & 2. Trigger condition: Trigger Alert when ALL of the following apply: Node Status is equal to DOWN Trigger Alert when ANY of the following apply Node Name is equal to Device 1
Node Name is equal to Device 2Node Name is equal to Device 3 Node Name is equal to Device 4 Node Name is equal to Device 5 etc Reset condition: Trigger Alert when ALL of the following apply: Node Status is equal to UP Reset Alert when ANY of the following apply Node Name is equal to Device 1
Node Name is equal to Device 2 Node Name is equal to Device 3Node Name is equal to Device 4Node Name is equal to Device 5etc Please note the above conditions work and we receive alerts when rack devices go down and come back up. The suppression condition that I am trying to create is the following: Suppress rack devices when: Node Status is equal to DOWN or WARNING AND Node name is Router OR Switch 1 OR Switch 2. So basically what I am saying is if ANY of Router, Switch 1 or Switch 2 is in DOWN or WARNING state then suppress the rack devices. I have tried a few different ways, but they don’t seem to work. Please see below: Example 1: Alert Suppression: Suppress Alert when ANY of the following apply: Node Status is equal to DOWN Node Status is equal to WARNING Suppress Alert when ANY of the following apply Node Name is equal to Router
Node Name is equal to Switch 1Node Name is equal to Switch 2 Example 2: Alert Suppression: Suppress Alert when ANY of the following apply: Node Status is equal to DOWN Suppress Alert when ANY of the following apply Node Name is equal to Router
Node Name is equal to Switch 1 Node Name is equal to Switch 2 Node Status is equal to WARNING Suppress Alert when ANY of the following apply Node Name is equal to Router
Node Name is equal to Switch 1 Node Name is equal to Switch 2 Example 3: Alert Suppression: Suppress Alert when ANY of the following apply:Suppress Alert when ALL of the following apply: Node Status is equal to DOWN
Node Name is equal to RouterSuppress Alert when ALL of the following apply: Node Status is equal to WARNING
Node Name is equal to RouterSuppress Alert when ALL of the following apply: Node Status is equal to DOWN
Node Name is equal to Switch 1Suppress Alert when ALL of the following apply: Node Status is equal to WARNING
Node Name is equal to Switch 1Suppress Alert when ALL of the following apply: Node Status is equal to DOWN
Node Name is equal to Switch 2Suppress Alert when ALL of the following apply: Node Status is equal to WARNING
Node Name is equal to Switch 2 Maybe it’s my logic that is wrong? What do you guys think?
