NPM monitor the MOXA product (iologik E2212)

Hi All,

Im using the Orion NPM v9.5, Please help me to troubleshoot with my problem in NPM to communicate to the E2212. iologik E2212 is a SNMP enabled device there are 8 inputs for the dry contact which is the DI's (meaning DI=digital input). This E2212 can convert the dry contact into SNMP. The situation right now is the NMP can already see the E2212 device by polling the MIB file but what we need is we want also to display to the NPM if there's something happening or trigger alarm on the 8 inputs of dry contact. Is this possible? what should I do to display the 8 inputs of dry contact to the NMP?

Is any of this data exposed via SNMP in their MIB?

Hi Bshopp,

thank you for the reply. The device Moxa E2212 have MIB file. I already saved it to the common folder. The 8channels DI (which is the dry contact) dont have data, purely dry contact only. When I trigger one of the dry contact input into alarm ( from Normally close to normally open) the display of the E2212 is turn off but it doesn't appear in the NPM alarm. Did you ever find a solution to this? I would like to use this same functionality with a Moxa E2210.

You have 2 options here.

1. Find the OID that changes when the contact changes to open, poll this and alert when it changes to open. We looked at this with our APC environmental monitors but decided to go with option 2.

2. Have the device alert you when an contact changes.

Instant event messaging by TCP/UDP/email/SNMP trap

An SNMP trap (when configured) is sent by the device when the event occurs (no need to wait for a poll cycle), alert on this and you will be right.
