How can I export a list of Application Monitors with 'unknown' status

We have a number of AppInsight for SQL Server monitors in an unknown status because the credentials we are using do not have sufficient access to monitor MS SQL Server. One of our DBA's said that I provided a list of SQL Servers to them, they'll fix the permissions issue.

I've been experimenting with the Web Report writer , but have not figure out how to get a list of hostnames of systems assigned the App Insight monitor with a status of unknown.

Is there a way to accomplish this goal? Or, failing that, could I write a query using ( at least ) the Netperfmon applicationstatus_detail table?

Try this query out in SWQL:

SELECT aa.Name, aa.Node.Caption, aa.StatusFROM Orion.APM.Application aaWHERE aa.Template.Name = 'AppInsight for SQL'

That'll give you the numeric status of the applications and the nodes where they're applied. If you only want the unknown ones, add this to the bottom:

SELECT aa.Name, aa.Node.CaptionFROM Orion.APM.Application aaWHERE aa.Template.Name = 'AppInsight for SQL'AND aa.Status = 0

This worked great ! The challenge for out DBA team will be to take the hostname and map it to the correct active directory domain so that they can grant the correct AD account database access. That's not your issue, that seems to be how Solarwinds stores and displays hostnames. I'm sure they'll figure it , perhaps using reverse DNS to get the domain , and then grouping hosts by Active Directory domain and running their powershell script against one group at time.

Regarding the AD domain, if you have that information you could put it in a node custom property alongside the rest of the existing node detail and pull that back out as a field in the report.
