I have to write a procedure for audit reasons on disater recovery of a failed router.
What would be the best practice or best method for getting a backed up config onto a new router please?
Ashley
What I personally do is TFTP the last known good configuration onto the new Router.
I would configure the router to use the local network so that you can connect to it. Then from the router run the TFTP command to the TFTP server housed on Orion, where the configurations are stored.
This process usually only takes a few minutes, and once the router is rebooted it will function the same as the one that went down. Make sure the hardware/software are the same before uploading the configuration to avoid incompatibility.
Thanks, that is what I was thinking, thank you for answering.
