I have a delimea and would like to hear what others have done.
I have set up Application Monitor Templates and then customized those templates for each node I am monitoring. The modified Application Monitor then includes the hostname of the node. Then I created advanced alerts to trigger based on certain conditions or events. I have that all working.
But when the alert gets registered on the screen, the information displayed for the alert does not provide anything that identifies it from say other alerts triggered on the same component for a different node. The Application Monitor is not displayed so that node name is not shown and the object name only shows the component name. I thought about changing the component name so that it has the node name in it but you cannot do that in the customized Application Monitor for the node. I would have to be in the Template. And since the component name doesn't allow you to use variables, this does not resolve my problem. So then I thought I would look at the detail view of the alert (by double-clicking on the alert) to see if node name displayed there. But node name does not display there either.
So if my team gets an email alert, I want them to come into the web interface and acknowledge the alert so that others don't also start working on it. But in order to identify the alert, they have to research through events to find which event, with node name, goes with which alert.
Has anyone figured out a way to do this so that they can just go to the one screen and acknowledge the event without wasting time trying to figure out which event instead of getting right back on the issue?
thanks for any feedback
Mike
