Generic Web Server returns NotAvailable

I did a search and found a couple of other references to this but nothing suggesting a fix. I've added a url which passes a DNS lookup but when I test the http and https I get:

Testing on node {my website}: failed with 'NotAvailable' status
Access denied, authorization failed.

I can browse the site from the server and it also works from everywhere else I've tried it. Can't figure out what might be stopping it from working in Solarwinds. Any ideas?

I might have figured it out. Looks like the template uses the translated IP address and not the URL. The IP address will definitely not respond. I need the name. Now I just need to figure out a way around that.

I did an override on the template and plugged in the actual site name. I imagine there's a variable instead of {IP} that I could use in the template? Something like {HOST}? If there is I didn't find it handy in the help docs.

As far as I know, there isn't a {HOST} variable available for APM monitors/templates. At this point, I believe you'll have to manually specify the site name for each host you're looking to monitor.

I gotta say, that's kinda cheesy. I can appreciate that someone bothered to create this template but the reality is that many web servers use host headers and it's not uncommon for an IP only "get" to fail. Certainly, even if there's a default site configured it's likely to belong to someone else such as the hosting company and it's "state" might not match that of the website you really want to be looking at.

It's unfortunate that the template can only force a translation to an IP address and not give you the option to retain the name from the node. Sure it works with the manual configuration but that strikes me as being an unneccesary step.
