False Positives ???
cayzac
Is there anyway to not send an alert on the first "failure"? In other words, I'd like the ping to a node to fail twice in a row before an alert is sent. I've seen false positives in the past and if it failed twice before alerting, that would eliminate most of that.

I am looking for a similar thing. I would like to be alerted when say a server CPU hits 100%, but only if it stays there for a minute or two, not just blips...

If you set your statistics and ICMP polling interval higher, you should be OK.
I get the CPU stats every 5 minutes and interface stats every 15 minutes.
Your CPU must be pinned for the full 5 minutes to see it at 100%.
As for ICMP if there is not response to a ping (actually 2 pings every 300 seconds),
then it goes into "fast polling" for 4 minutes (Pings every 30 seconds) before sending out an alert.
All these intervals are customizable, but I have found these settings to give the fewest false alarms.
