I'd like to pull device name, model, location, and serial number information from Cirrus. I see there's a built-in chassis ID report, but this seems to contain information only for Catalyst switches.
I know that older routers (2600, etc) may not have accurate information about their SNs available programatically, but I've tested the following Cisco devices successfully:
1700 routers
2800 routers
3800 routers
2950 switches
3550 switches
3560 switches
3750 switches
All of these report the correct serial number, although it might be in slightly different formats, and it might take different commands. You might need some permutation of:
show version
show inventory
show snmp chassis
Is there any way to get Cirrus (or Orion for that matter) to grab ACCURATE serial number information?
