DNS resolution issue - external application monitors

Is there anyway to disable DNS resolution for specific external application monitors?

Reason being we are trying to monitor an external website with a specific URL using the HTTP application monitor - however because of DNS resolution the HTTP application monitor doesn't work because the external facing IP address serves multiple sites managed by IIS

We require the HTTP monitor to web browse to for example http://house.co.uk - the website only return using the full host URL

But the application monitor is resolving the URL to the IP address and doing a web browse to http://IPaddress - the website does not return using the IP address

I hope that makes sense - any ideas?

What version of SAM or APM are you currently running?

We are running SAM 5.2.0

We set these up a while ago and they used to work on a previous version of SAM

I would recommend upgrading to SAM 5.5 as that's not the expected behavior. This was how the HTTP User Experience Monitor worked previously under APM, but relatively recent changes in SAM allow for the inclusion of the host header as part of the HTTP request. We're also working on some additional improvements to the host header handling for the next release that will allow users to force the host header value, even when DNS isn't available.
