Telnet not working from System Manager?

Hello.

We've recently installed a couple of new NPM servers running 9.5.1 on a Server 2008 machine.

On both of them if you right click on a device in system manager you can see the option to Telnet but nothing actually happens. The windows telnet client is installed on the servers and you can run it manually just fine. I've just upgraded one of the servers to NPM V10 and still see the same behaviour.

Has anyone else seen this happen and if so , how do you fix it?

Are you running putty or some other third party telnet client or using the Windows client from the cli? On 2008 you have to enable it, which you may have already done, see here

Hello.

Yes , I have enabled the windows telnet client but I also have TeraTerm installed. Both of them work when the programs are run manually , but neither works if I try and telnet to a device from the System Manager or Web Interface.

You have to do some reg tweaks to get telnet working with IE 8 (and I think 7) through the web interface. It's been disabled by default.
