Orion Database Is Excessively Too Big

My Orion database is growing out of control; I have limited the collection of traps, datas, etc to the bare minimum which is one day.

I have a 105G hard drive space and Orion database is eating more than half of the disk space. I have tried shrinking the database, but that did not help and the funny thing is that I only have about 30 monitored devices.

Is this some type of bug? I am running Orion 8.5.1 unlimited version plus 8.5.1 service park.

Could you verify which tables are the largest? If it is the trapvarbinds table see this thread- for resolution.

Yes, it is the trapvarbinds table; I have truncated it and running DB maintenance at the moment, I will give it about 3 hrs, since it takes alot of time.

I also read in this forum that, a hotfix resolved the db problem and that what I might be having has to do with orphaned data.

Where can I get the hot fix? Or does it come with the Orion software?

I am currently running Orion 8.5.1 SLX version and I have also applied the Orion 8.5.1 service pack. What other hotfix, service pack, etc out there do I still need?

8.5.1 w/ SP3 is the latest- (everything is rolled into that) so once you remove this orphaned data and the white space is compacted the db should return to a more manageable size.

I had the exact same issue. After lowering the time I keep traps then truncated the data then shrunk my data base I gained over 75GB back.

We also had the same problem last week requiring a Truncate Table.

If table TrapVarBinds is a constant issue for the database, would it be reasonable that a optional process to clear the table be offered within database maintenance.
