I am wondering if anyone out there in the community monitors any devices with over 1000 interfaces. We have a few Cisco 7200's that range from 1000-9000 interfaces...each. Orion seems to melt when monitoring these. I have one poller dedicated to these 3 routers, but I only monitor ~8000 of the ~17000 interfaces. When I go to list resources, it sometimes does not find interfaces that I know exist. I have used network discovery and set the discovery speed and timeouts to try and help, but I seem to get the same result. Also, if indeed it does find the new interfaces, it sometimes takes 1-3 days before it becomes snmp aware, and begins collecting stats. It sits unknown until then. I have tried multiple variations of polling values and intervals and timeouts. My support tickets get sent to development, and go no where. They either blame enviornmentals or force us to wait for a service pack (of which I have gone through 3 now).
Any advice?
We are thinking that we might need to split the ~8000 into two pollers of ~4000 each, but wanted to get everyone else's recommendations first.
