vmware monitoring

Hi,

I'm having a hard time on VMware Exchange servers. I have monitored several exchange servers using NPM. I need to determine which among the servers are vmware. I need to see it in the npm as vmware. Also I have to monitor the services running to it using the APM. Can someone help me on this?

If you monitor the ESX server on which are hosted your exchange servers, Orion NPM will show you in the web console which servers are Virtual Machines and on which host they are hosted.

Also I have to monitor the services running to it using the APM.

Have you tried to assign one of the default APM Exchange Template to your Exchange servers?

They are configured to monitor services needed by Exchange to be fully functional as well as other monitors.

I have monitored the exchange server in the npm. When I tried to click the node, it still appears to be "Node Details- <Name of the Exchange Server>". I just saw that one of its interface is virtual, as reflected in the display.

I have tried assigning the exchange server to the template yet the APM shows the status to be unknown.

You need to monitor the VMWare ESX server to have the name of your Exchange server appears as "Node Details - <Name of the Exchange Server> - Hosted by <ESX server name>".
