Config Change Template syntax

I tried to add a CLI command that has a pipe symbol in it "|".  This was misinterpreted and only executed what was after the pipe symbol.  Is there a way to escape a pipe symbol, or is there any detailed manual for template syntax.

Again, this is just barely usable.

This is an oldie, but I can't seem to find anything related that actually answers the question.  I'm running into a similar issue with a config change template I'm trying to develop for Cisco IOS -- I have a few commands defined that attempt to run a show command piped to an output, and when I try and execute the template, NCM is only sending commands after the pipe.  Here's the CLI portion of my template:

action 1.3 cli command "show clock | append disk0:show_tech"

action 1.4 cli command "show tech | append disk0:show_tech"

action 1.5 cli command "more disk0:show_tech"

action 1.6 syslog msg "Sending show tech..."

action 1.7 mail server "$_email_server" to "$_email_to" from "$_email_from" subject "Show Tech Output (hostname:$_info_routername)" body "$_cli_result" vrf mgmtVrf

When I preview the commands that will be executed, they start at append disk0:show_tech" from action 1.4.
