Device Vendor Identification

What OID does the NPM use to determine the device vendor?

I have a couple devices that show up as unknown and would like to know what I can can possibly do to get Orion to identify the manufacturer to help correctly categorize them.

Hi,

It uses the SNMPv2-MIB:sysObjectOID - 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2

Please post your unknown devices in the following thread:

Tell us your "Unknown" devices!

You will need to provide the Vendor and Model names of your devices too.

Are these updates included in the next service pack, or how are they distributed?

The process is currently to release the updated mapping db file in new releases.

I do not know when the next release will be out but you can ask in the other thread and a product manager might give you some hints.

Service Packs are intended to fix bugs, they usually do not include new features and Unknown Devices are more or less considered as new features.
