Linux mount points monitoring

Would like to know how solarwinds will monitor if a mount point or server resources ( RAM ) is added or removed to the server which is already in the monitoring.

Will i need to get notified by the team or do I need to do a rediscovery each time when a already installed server has a new mount point..

Any ideas pls !!!!!!!!!!

1. If any mount point is removed you can configure (volume down) alert for the same.

you will be notified with volume is down. Below must be triggered condition for volume down alert or you can make changes according to the requirement.

2. If already installed server has a new mount point..

you need to list resource every time and add them under monitoring.

Vijay,

Nothing is automatic when it comes to adding nodes/new resources.

Adding to Mohitonline's answer. You can schedule a network discovery weekly once or twice to find the newly added components and don't forget to poll the node before you list resource

Did this work? I have a requirement to alert for mount point....

I did try the same trigger with status Up, but its not identifying anything....

above mentioned triigering conditions are working perfectly fine.

Hi Mohit,

Requirement is to alert when the mount point is not available, meaning its down... I was able to get some alerts when i selected the volume type as fixed disk, network disk etc..

Do we also have an option of volume type as 'mount point' like the one u have mentioned?
