NPM alert email syntax

Is there an option or reason why down and up are replaced by 2 and 1 on the NPM email alert?

Actually found it on the website after I asked on Thwack. So for anyone who has this same problem....

replace the old macro ${interface.status} with the new macro: ${N=SwisEntity;M=Status;F=Status}
