Monitoring the Windows SharePoint Services Timer in SP 2007 with APM

Can anyone help me in monitoring this service with APM?

Hi, Chuco.

Orion APM 3.0 contains a Sharepoint Services (WSS) 3.0 template. According to that template, the Sharepoint Services Timer has the Net Service name SPTimerV3. I looked it up, and SPTimerV3 is the service started by running your OWSTIMER.EXE.

So as far as monitoring that service goes, it is probably easiest to just assign that template to your SharePoint server.

Or, if you really want to monitor only that service, you can use the existing component monitor from the template and assign that to the node from the "Manage Component Monitors within Templates" page.

Not sure if your question is "what" to monitor or "how" to monitor.... if you are just looking for out-of-the-box cpu/mem, go to the APM creation page... at the very bottom you will see "find Processes,Services, and Performance Counters"... walk through the menus and you are done...
