Batch File Job monitor based on Window title

Hi Everyone, i'm new in Solarwinds SAM. Can anyone help me on Window Script Monitor in Solarwinds. I need to monitor batch file job process in Windows Server. The default process monitor unable to use in customer environment is because they using single batch file and run multiple job. In the task manager only able to see all batch file job running in cmd.exe but unable to determine which job is close. The only place to different the batch file job in on the Window title. In customer batch file script will change the window title when specific job running.

Is anyone know how to write the script to just check whether the batch file job running in the server?

Best that that I can think of (with only a few minutes of checking) would be to use PowerShell's Get-Process function and select the "MainWindowTitle" element.

Hi KMSigma,

I had added some condition into the command to get more accurate process windows title out. However, the result is not as my expect. Below is the PowerShell Script that i using. I'm using below powershell script but it unable to display out the Window Title name inside the Write-Host. Besides that, if i insert invalid Window Title, it still showing out the job running. Can you assist me on it?

$proc = (Get-Process cmd | where {$_.mainwindowtitle -eq "window title"} | Select-Object -expandproperty MainWindowTitle)[0];

Write-Host "Message.Job: Job $($proc) is running";

Write-Host "Statistic.Job: $(1)";

Hi KMSigma,

I had tested out some new script command. The command able to use in Windows PowerShell ISE but unable to use in Solarwinds SAM PowerShell Monitor script.

Is there any command different between Windows PowerShell ISE and Solarwinds SAM PowerShell Monitor Script?

Below screen shot is the result output from Solarwinds PowerShell script monitor. It look like the "$proc" is not record the get-process output

OK - here's what I've found:

It looks like the ONLY way to get to that particular value (MainWindowTitle) is to be running ON the machine. It doesn't look like it supports ANY remote calls.

We can try to figure out a dozen little things that might work for you, but let's start with the simple one: does this job generate a log of any kind? If so we can just watch the logs.

It doesn't have any log for these batch file job. They try to use SAM to monitor the job and notify them if the job stopped.

Yes, we can do a comparison on an Excel file... if Excel and PowerShell are installed on the machine where you want to run the script. Is it actually an "Excel" file or is it a CSV (Comma Separated Value)? Because if it's a CSV, then PowerShell already has a function to handle that [Import-CSV].

I'm going to assume that this is an actual "Excel" file (xls, xlsx, etc.) and not a CSV from the previous post.

The script depends on what you'd like to do exactly with that Excel File. If the program just adds a line to it, then you could always just watch the last time that the file was saved (easy). If the program adds a new row (column, sheet, else), then it gets more difficult. If you could post a small screenshot of what this file looks like (and if it is actually an Excel file) that would probably help.
