Show historical Statistical Data and Component message in report

Question

I'm looking to create a report that shows the historical statistics and component message for a windows script monitor but it looks to be only showing me the current statistic and message and not the historical data.

I've read that the data is accessible via a SQL Query but is their a possibility to have this data within a report?

The reason i'm looking to get this data as the windows script monitor queries a URL for current user licenses and we would like to know when this licenses is increased or decreased, without the historical data I would have to look at another solution.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Parker,

Thank you for the feedback on the question.

I've found the charting method previously on Thwack and my concern with it is that when the number of licenses used is changed we will be prompted with an average between the two numbers. As we want to indicate the exact number before and after and not an average between the two numbers.

The second link is quite useful but I wanted to avoid using sql statements but if this the route I have to go, then I will take it.

I am not sure what all you have tried or what you know about reports so you may have already tried this, and just looking how to customize that particular component to require it to store historical data.  However, even if your windows script component monitor has "current" in the name, it should still retain its statistic during every poll(default is 5 minutes).  Anyway, try creating a "Custom Chart" in SolarWinds Reports.  Go to Reports>Create New>Choose Custom Chart.  In the dynamic query builder, you want to create a condition that selects that component monitor as the Datasource.  Choose "component" as object type.....see below

After you click ADD TO LAYOUT, it should take you to the screen below where you can choose what component metric you want to chart.  Choose any of the "Statistic"(Average, Min, Max, shouldn't matter since it only retrieves one stat per poll).  And you can adjust the granularity and time period:
