Hi,
I want to have an alert for my exchange queues, so that if they back up past a particular threshold, I can get an alert. How can I set this up?

Are you currently monitoring those queues with SAM?
The servers themselves are in SAM but that particular counter I think isn't monitored.
In that case, step one is to monitor the particular metrics you are wanting to monitor using the Component Monitor Wizard. Once those are monitored and thresholds defined, the default out-of-the-box "Alert me when a component goes into warning or critical state" should handle the notifications.
