I am using APM to monitor a port response time on a server. In my case, using port 22. I occasionally get poor response time to this port because it is going across a slower WAN link. I bumped up my threshold to about 500ms, which is rather large. I am still getting a lot of events/alerts during the day on this monitor because there are times that it gets slow response, and there's nothing I can do about that. I am thinking about bumping up my thresholds even larger.
It would be nice if solarwinds would have a "poll again" option that can be set on a monitor. So, if it sees it as surpassing the threshold, solarwinds would poll again xx seconds later, perhaps even xx times, before it marks it as a warning. I bet that if I would set this to poll just 10 seconds later, the response time would be under the threshold. If this second poll still sees it as degraded, then it would put to a warning state.
If there is another way to accomplish this same thing, I'm all ears. Thanks.
