Hi folks,
If a service runs it creates a process, both these can be monitored. Would there be a reason to monitor both or just one? I would monitor the WMI process but can anyone tell me why?
thanks
Dave
The difference between a Windows Service monitor and a WMI Process Monitor is how you specify the thing you want to watch. For some people, specifying the name of the service is easier than determining the name of the process that hosts the service.
For some services, the process name is the same. For example, there will be multiple instances of svchost.exe that each run one or more services. If you created a Process Monitor for svchost.exe, you would be able to tell which process is hosting the "Remote Registry" service.
Thanks Josh for your reply.
