Hi there,
Can someone please tell me what are recommended or useful daily, weekly and monthly checks and reports to carryout and setup within NCM?
Regards, Wynford
Hi,
yeah we use the nightly config backups and config change reports but also we have alot of change on our network so I run the:
Login failure report - helps me keep track of devices that NCM can no longer login to - preset report
We run a variety of 'show' commands and have the outputs mailed to related users. eg
We had difficultly finding a reliable OID to poll on some of our IPT gateways to find the number of current active ISDN calls so we developed the following command script job:
Show active voice calls
Cammand script
sh voice call status | in active
This job runs every wednesday every 5 mins from 9am to 12 pm then again from 2pm to 4pm
We also have our Policy reports sent to us once a month and am in the process of creating a scheduled import job that will import any newly added devices in our Orion NPM database to the NCM database.
Cheers
HTH
I'll let our NCM customers respond with what they typically run on a periodic basis, but I imagine it will vary greatly based on the problems / use-cases your organization trying to address with config management.
I will say that nightly config backups and config change reporting are the 2 most common use-cases. NCM makes this really easy to do with the Nightly Config Backup job (setup out of the box). You just need to enable the options in the job to get emailed a config change report.
HTH,
