Does anyone else have Cisco Nexus 56128s? Mine only show as "Cisco" in device type. My Nexus 5548s are all recognized as NX-OS and the correct model by the Solarwinds modules, but not the Nexus 56128.
I dont have the 56128's but I do have 5672's which show correctly. Likely it is because there is no device profile in NPM. I have a bunch of Cisco ISR891F's which only show as Cisco as I'm running NPM 11.0.1. In 11.5 these devices show correctly.
The 56128s don't show up correctly in 11.5.2-I'm running that version. I guess I just wait for the code to catch up.
What is not showing up correctly?
I had an issue with quite a few Nexus devices in 11.5.2 not displaying correctly, but this ended up being a view problem. Our 56128's are Machine Type Cisco, but we get all the rest of the information from them, for example:
I opened a case, and had to go into Settings -> Views -> Views by Device Type, and set Cisco to default. For some strange reason the default View for Cisco for us was set to Wireless Controller. Once I set it to default I started seeing the information I was expecting. Not sure if this is what you are experiencing, but thought it might be worth mentioning.
Well this was a cool thing to check out but didn't fix my issue. But glad to see this view. I hadn't looked at it before. Solarwinds knows my 56128s are Cisco's but as far as identifying the model or OS, it can't so when I do filtering, I have to do workarounds on something other than the model. It's not the end of the world, I just don't understand why it doesn't see it's a Nexus model device.
Sorry my solution didn't work for you. From my understanding the detection is based on the SysObjectID. Is yours the same as the one I posted previously?
Our 56128's are detected correctly in NPM 11.5.2, but there isn't a custom Machine Type. I agree with rschroeder that there will probably be a custom Machine Type in newer versions, but the rest of the information should be properly detected even with Machine Type Cisco.
My suggestion at this time would be to open a support case.
