Monitor Apache on Windows

Hello,

I am having an issue trying to get APM Apache Module to monitor our servers. Its Apache 2.2 installed on Windows. Would the Windows install be part of the problem?

I have searched the thread and havent seen a Apache Windows related issue. Advice please.

The instructions for configuring Apache server to show the server-status page are similar for Windows and Linux. Log on as an administrator and modify the httpd.conf file as described in the configuration steps.

Did you do this already and run into some trouble in the configuration? If so, where do you think you ran into trouble?

This template retrieves Apache server statistics from the built-in Apache /server-status web page.

Prerequisites: Configure the Apache web server to allow itself access to the /server-status page.

Credentials: SSH account on the web server.

Configuring the Apache server for Orion APM monitoring:

1. Log on to your Apache server using an SSH or telnet client.

2. Grant yourself root permissions (su root).

3. Locate the Apache configuration file, typically in /usr/local/apache/conf.

4. Append the following lines to your httpd.conf Apache configuration file, substituting the IP address or host name of your Apache server for localhost. Use localhost only if the Apache server services the loopback interface.

<Location /server-status>

SetHandler server-status

Order Deny,Allow

Deny from all

Allow from "localhost"

</Location>

ExtendedStatus On

5. Restart the Apache server (apachectl graceful).

Hello msheehan,

Have you been able to get the APM Apache Module to work for your Apache 2.2 on Windows? We are in a similar boat and it seems that it requires to set up an SSH account on the server, however it being a Windows box it does not have SSHD running or installed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi:

I just uploaded a template called ApacheWin with some WMI stuff for Apache. You'll find it under the "Shared Templates on thwack" tab when you click the "Manage Applications" button on the APM Summary page.
