Orion returns message "Testing on node .... pending" when attempting to test a component in SQL Server 2005 - 2008 APM

All,

I am new to the Solarwinds Orion APM product.

I am attempting to use the SQL Server 2005 - 2008 APM.

When I test a component, a message stating "testing on node name is pending" and hangs.

Does anyone have any insight into this?

This is definitely unusual behavior. Are you using the "SQL Server 2005-2008 Performance (SQL)" or "SQL Server 2005-2008 Performance (WMI)". This will determine what type of credentials you'll need to use, as well as the connectivity method used to monitor the application. the "(SQL) version will connection to your SQL server over port 1433 using SQL "sa" account credentials. The (WMI) version of this template connects using WMI with Windows Administrator credentials.

Thank you for the response.

I have tried both the SQL and WMI performance monitor without success.

Using either APM, I cannot successfully test the components as it returns the message that the action is pending.
