Hi all,
I have a Watchguard that is recognized as an net-snmp device vendor.
Is it a normal behaviour, what should i do to have the device recognized as the good vendor ?
Regards,
What is the sysObjectID of the device (see the Node Details in System Manager to look this up)? If the Watchguard device is reporting a generic net-snmp sysObjectID then Orion will not be able to show it as Watchguard.
Hi,
The SysObjectID for the device Watchguard is 1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.3.2.10. Have you any idea if this is a generic OID ?
8072 is the snmp vendor id for net-snmp.
As i understand it, there is no way you can change this within Orion. So unfortunately, you will not be able to have the device recognised as a Watchguard other then by the node name which you could change to something more meaningful if needed
Thank you,
so the information for the vendor and the type of device can not be manually change in Orion ?
I will just change the name for something more meaningful.
I can see why it might show up as net-snmp. The last Watchguard firebox I used was running linux under the hood so they probably just configured net-snmp on their flavor of linux.
I have the same problem with my firewalls from Secure Computing / CyberGuard. They all are running Linux at a raw level, and recognized as net-snmp. It's unfortunate that I'm so limited as to what I can monitor - these are great firewalls.
I have the same problem with our Watchguard X5000, X750e, and X50 that we have here.
Would be nice if they offered some additional support however.
Orion is showing what the vendor is publishing. The vendor is not identifying themselves as anything other than net-snmp.
