Move running APM server to different network

Network access between APM and hosts aside, should I be able to move a Win2k3+MSSQL server from one network to another without major re-configuration?

What is tied to the IP address or related that is going to present a problem for me to move the running APM server to a different network and monitor the same hosts?

I've only been able to find the Solarwinds migration document which covers moving the software and data to a new server.

Regarding database reconfiguration - historical data won't be affected so it won't impact data stored about nodes or historical reports.

Orion has a few settings, which are stored in the database (hostname of machine, where Orion runs, ...) and that's going to be updated. Except for that Orion will change its config files so it will point to a SQL server under it's new name (in new network).

Are you moving the whole physical or virtual machine, where Orion is running, to another network?

If yes, then you shouldn't have problems if you make sure, that all DNS records are updated to point correctly to new IP. You will just need to run the Configuration Wizard and reconfigure Database.

Then you should also verify, that all credentials, which are being used in APM are still valid on the new network. If not, you should edit them and enter new appropriate usernames/passwords.

We will be moving the stand-alone physical server to a new network. Network provisions (DNS/Firewall/etc) have been made.

Do you have any more information/reference to documentation for reconfiguring the database? I am interested in knowing what is reconfigured and the impact this will have on historical reports or data stored for my nodes.

I am going to mark your response as the answer for now and update the thread with any additional findings that come up during the migration for others who may be in the same situation. Move is scheduled for last week in March.
