Time Data Was Last Transmitted \ Received Issue

This is a great part of the NCM product and has allowed us to save on the purchasing of new switches. In the past couple of weeks I've noticed on some switches that under Last Change it says for most of the interfaces Not Available and in the time field most are Blank even for interfaces that are showing UP and Active. See screenshot.

What's causing the problem, as far as I can see the switch is fine?

Hi,

Here is the definition of the ifLastChange OID (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.9):

The value of sysUpTime at the time the interface entered its current operational state. If the current state was entered prior to the last re-initialization of the local network management subsystem, then this object contains a zero value.

You are probably facing the scenario highlighted in bold.

I presume then that to rectify the problem I need to reboot the switch?

I would think so too.

Perhaps your switch allows you to only restart the SNMP process without rebooting it.

Can someone explain how the last Change field is calculated. I'm trying to understand exactly how this is calculated so that I can write a sql query to tell which ports have been inactive for more than a given time period.

is it something like this maybe?:

CurrentTime - (sysUpTime - ifLastChange)
