Can't add nodes on new install

Hi, I recently installed NPM and it went smooth with no errors. upon setting up my first node I get an error message:

Also, if I try to launch UniversalDevicePoller.exe directly it crashes immediatly. I think these are both related to the same problem maybe:

Running on 2008 R2 with SQL Standard 2008. Installed as a domain admin.

I've seen a similar message before and if I remember correctly, it ended up that the SolarWinds Orion Module Engine service had stopped. If you open up the Orion Service Manager (or Service from the Windows Admin tools), check to make sure all your services are running. The Orion Service Manager is under SolarWinds Orion | Advanced Features.

If a simple restart of the service does not help, you might try reinstalling the Job Engine, as described in the following SolarWinds Knowledge Base articles:

Tried both of those already....starting to think it could be a database permission issue....ran their diagnostic utility but it's gonna take me a bit to pick through.

When I installed, I started with a new DB and created a new SQL account as the config wizard asked. Assuming it would give all necessary permissions.
