The templates that come with the product are way old (e.g. SQL 2005). I have made my own. Can I safely delete the ones that came with the product?
Sure you can delete them but if they are not assigned to a server then it's really not doing anything or consuming any resources.
Thanks : ). It consumes valuable milliseconds of my, and others, valuable bio compute time. And, I am a fan of relevant and useful visual information.
Won't they just show back up when you run the config wizard?
No idea there. We are deploying SW to our environment and it went from a Network (they might be familiar with config wizard) monitoring solution to being mandated for servers too. I am in the SQL group. The system now becomes multi-tenant with Oracle, Windows, SQL, Linux, AIX, etc. in the mix. The SAM templates, monitor configurations, and alerting now become very challenging to maintain with so many cooks in the kitchen. Naming standards, grouping design, custom properties, etc. are outstanding tasks. Template organization will be important. Just starting to learn this stuff so looking for ways to keep it clean, organized, and relevant. Just beginning the journey. The Custom Properties training video is very helpful.
