Test Failed with "Unknown" status on [SERVER] Invalid Class

Hello all,

I am attempting to add a node that is on an external domain, in this scenario we currently have two CTX11 & CTX12. CTX12 is working without issues, however when adding CTX11 I am presented with the following errors using our External account. I have attempted to re-add, try different accounts, restart SNMP/WMI services, and issue is still present. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is obviously something wrong with WMI on that particular host. It may simply need its WMI repository repaired/rebuilt or it may need certain DLL"s re-registered with the operating system. Either way, the following WMI troubleshooting guide should walk you through repairing the most common WMI related issues.

The error would indicate that the WMI call isn't finding the specific class in order to query the service. Have you tried running wbemtest,exe on the SolarWinds server and connect to the target?

Going to attempt using now.

The WMI queries are working with wbmetest, we are going to perform a reboot. Just noticed the up time is about a month. :O

I would also recommend switching the Fetching Method from WMI to RPC to see if that makes a difference.

Another setting that could affect this behavior is platform (change it from default x86 to x64) under advanced settings on application edit page.

So changing to RPC seems to be working, and in changing I noticed some down services on being Citrix WMI....which I believe is the reason my of my original issue.

Update:

Started the Citrix WMI service, still receiving errors on some of the WMI monitors related to SELECT ActiveSessions FROM Win32_PerfFormattedData_TermService_TerminalServices

May I ask on what possible reason the test failed with uknown status timeout?

My SNMPv3 is working well and responding to the node.

SNMP Components require that the node is also managed via SNMP and that the same SNMP credentials are used for the node as the SAM SNMP Component Monitor. The SNMP port may be different, but the credentials and therefore the SNMP versions used must be identical.

Thanks for your response. I'm afraid I'm a bit lost with your words.

Yes, the node was already responding to SNMPv3. I understand that the port being used with this is port 161.

But for the Component Monitor, the default port was 1161. Component monitor's description was to have SNMP configured in OS level and JVM should allow SNMP queries. Looking at the description, we were given a link on how to configure this on GlassFish. We followed the instruction to do so.

1. We can see the OID being used by the component monitor when SNMP walk was done on local server.

2. But, when we did snmp walk from solarwinds server to the target server, OID was not found.

Do you have an idea on what might be the problem is? I'm guessing we were missing some configurations in the Glassfish server side but we thoroughly followed the steps included in here.: http://www.solarwinds.com/NetPerfMon/SolarWinds/OrionAPMAGConfigureJMXConfWL.htm

Can you perform an SNMP MIB walk of that device over port 1161 using the same SNMP credentials as you are using for the node from the Orion server?

From the Orion server open the MIB walk tool - C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SnmpWalk.exe
Enter the Glassfish server IP address in the "Agent Address of DNS name field
Change the Port to '1161'
Ensure the SNMP version matches the SNMP version used for monitoring the glassfish server node in Orion
Ensure the SNMP community or SNMPv3 credentials match the ones used for monitoring the glassfish server node in Orion
