tftp server software repository only displays bin files so cisco "archive download-sw" fails

I tried running "archive download-sw" on a Cisco 2960 against our Solarwinds/Orion/NCM v7.8 box and got "not found" errors. The firmware images are Cisco tar files, and they are there if you look at windows Explorer or a file listing in a CMD box. But Orion's Software Repository listing does not display them, so I guess the server is reporting to the switch that the file isn't there (Yes, I should verify that with Wireshark but I'm a contractor on this job and there are access issues, etc.). I can't find any settings except the directory for the tftp root. What gives here? TFTP works fine for the bin files. Is this program intentionally blind to other file types?

Per Solarwinds customer support the Software Repository only works with bin files. They are considering adding other file types in future relleases. However, I'd already discovered that tftproot is still there and still works the way it's supposed to, so I'm using that instead.

I don't think what I was trying to do would have ever worked, since the tftp server only grabs from the Software Repository when you are running a script from NCM, as far as I can tell. I was trying to run the upgrade from the Cisco command line, which works if you bypass all of the Orion overlay on top of tftpserver.

What additional file types are common for your environment?

So far I'm only aware of tar files, but I'm new to this environment. The better question is why was I using tftp, and the answer to that is new to the environment and with work to be done I was reaching for an old standby. With more time to prepare I'd have rather used a more secure file transfer method. The archive download command is limiting in that respect.
