APM monitor Domain Controller

Hi,

This may be an unusual question but I'm more a Cisco Engineer than a Microsoft, my questions is, does my Orion Server that house NPM/APM have to be on the domain in order to monitor servers on the same domain via APM? My NPM/APM server is a stand-alone workgroup, same with my SQL server.

I'm trying to use "Browse a node for processes, services, and Performance Counters" under APM settings, then scanning for Windows Service Monitor. I get an error "unable to connect to server X.X.X.X as user domain\username.

HELP PLEASE!

Ignore please. I found the problem. It was the username I've been given by the Microsoft Admins here in the office that had the problem.

So you are using paired local user accounts (with the same username and password on both - monitored node and Orion server)? If so, then yes it should work

I am having the same problem, it worked fine on NT machines, but this exact error came up when I was trying to monitor windows services on a windows 2003 server, so what i did was I created a new user with admin right on the server and used this newly created credential and it worked

but I dont want to create a new user (especially with admin right) just for this service monitoring purpose..

is there any way to work around this?
