Good day all,
I was wondering if anyone has any insight on integrating Solarwinds to a uCMDB, and what the capabilities would be, how to integrate, etc...?
Thanks all,
Roberto
I think this is a loaded question
there shouldn't be any issues having Orion be the source for networking inventory as it will be DB to DB. I've pulled info from Orion into HP ServiceManager and other tools with no issue (uCMDB seemed to much for us). The particulars will depend on what tool you choose for your uCMDB and what information you/your org wants to maintain.
not much help, but very org specific.
Thanks for the reply Larry,
I am feeling the same way. I cannot find a doc of any kind with specific integration possibilities, and not a word of this on any forum. So pretty much I am going to resign to the fact that we can probably configure the Orion as a federated DB but nothing that would pull the actual inventory from Orion and create CI's from it.
If anyone else has a few cents of opinion on this matter, please feel free to comment.
yea, Orion would be fDB (master source) for the gear you pull from it and depending on the uCMDB, it should provide you with the capabilities of adding/updating/deleting CIs based on criteria you set up. For that, you would have to dig into the uCMDB package to find out more. But they all have ability to tie into and pull/push to/from major DB engines.
good luck
To pull CI info out of Orion, instead of going directly at the DB, we do have an SDK available for pulling data out of Orion into third party system.
