Hello All,
Fairly new to Solarwinds, as we had previously hired out our monitoring, so if this question has been answered elsewhere, I apologize. I searched, and could not find what I needed, so I figured I would ask. I should mention that we are using Orion for monitoring and alerting, but we use another product in conjunction to handle alert escalations.
On our network, we have environmental probes set up at each site to monitor the server rooms. We have an alert set up called Env_Temperature_High that kicks off an alert when the temp gets to a predefined point, and resets if it drops again. What I would like to do is have alerts fire off occasionally, even if the trigger condition still exists and the alert did not reset. Right now, the system sends one alert, and that is it unless the alert resets. With our previous solution, they were able to do this, and they used the same software combination that we currently have in place, so I know it can be done. I am just wondering if this can be done from Orion alone, which I believe it would be. Basically, if a server room is overheating, we want alarming to continue hourly until the problem is addressed.
Right now, we have the alert set to check every 1 minute, and alert when the trigger condition exists for more than 4 minutes, which I believe are alert defaults. The reset condition is a drop of 2 degrees from the alert condition, and does not reset until the condition exists for more than 10 minutes.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.
