NCM and Windows Active Directory

Hi there,

Please can someone tell me how to go about and what things should be considered when planning to integrate the NCM 5.5.1 and its users into a Windows Active Directory environment. We are planning to authenticate the users that are logging onto the NCM using both remote and local web and Remote Desktop via an AD setup. Am I right in thinking that the currently created NCM user accounts will need to be recreated in a domain style format, i.e. Domain\username instead of just Username?

Or can the users logging onto the NCM web console remotely and from the logged on Windows server launching the NCM web console locally simply only needs to enter their login credentials in a domain style format?

Also, what TCP/IP ports and traffic flow directions are used in this arrangement for the purpose of AD authentication?

When adding user accounts to NCM, you should be able to browse the domain for Windows accounts and select them.  There's nothing else that you have to do on the NCM side.  When logging on with a domain account, you'll need to specify domain\username as you would logging into any other Windows authentication based application.

AD authentication happens from the domain machine from which you are viewing the NCM web console.  This token is then passed to NCM for validation, so nothing special should need to be setup for AD authentication.
