SQL Server 2012 Performance (WMI) template: unknown status on component monitors

Most of the component monitors of the "SQL Server 2012 Performance (WMI)" template in SAM 6.2.2 return "unknown" status when tested against a functioning SQL Server 2012 SP that SAM is running on, on the same system.

Only four out of 20 or so component monitors are "up", the rest - "unknown".

Is there a guide on how to configure it? (E.g. add a monitoring account to a specific security group on the node.)

P.S. the SQL Server 2012 Performance (SQL): all components show as "down" when tested - I assume because of bad credentials. Ditto, is there a guide on how to configure this properly?

P.P.S. This is a follow up to Re: Undefined status for SQL Server 2005 WMI application - which didn't solve the problem for me.

Have you tried using AppInsight for SQL instead, or the SQL Server 2012 Performance (SQL) template instead? The issue you are likely encountering is that you have a named SQL instance which likely must be included in the configuration of each component in the template that is reporting "down". That is not the case with either of the other two options I recommended.

Yes: a bit too much for my purposes, and "expensive" license-wise. If I enable it for our few SQL Servers, we'd be out of licenses fast, given that I can't disable / delete components in it. AppInsight just seems like a cruise ship where a kayak might do.

Yes, getting "could not open a connection to SQL Server" despite supposedly using the right credentials.
