Dedicated Component Views

Is it possible to have a dedicated view for particular components? I see applications and device types but not components. I thought I was customizing one but then in error changed them all. Is it not possible to have a custom view for a particular component?

Not at this time, though resources are intelligent enough to automatically hide if they're not applicable to that particular component monitor type.

Ok problem is they are relevant to multiple types of views I just need very specific formatting for a handful. I'll see if I can throw something custom together outside of the component. More of a summary page.

Would views unique to specific component monitor types, similar to how "Views by Device Type" work for nodes help in your situation?

No I think in this case it's more having a dedicated view for an application with a subset of dedicated pages for components. So if I built a specific app view I could alter it's component subpages without changing all.

Hi Mike,

Not sure if I'm following your need correctly, but one possible way to get close to it, rather than an Application Detail view might be make a new view of type Application Summary and then add resources such as:

Multiple Series Charts (Classic Chart Style) - Multiple Objects Chart & Multiple Universal Device Pollers Chart for a Single Node or Summary Page -> Multiple Object Chart
Miscellaneous - Miscellaneous Resources -> Custom Object Resource
SAM Application Summary Reports - Resources that display overall application status -> Various Top XX charts

The first two will let you select specific components and display certain statistics of those components. The 3rd, by renaming and also by editing the resource to display a certain number of top whatever will allow you to use a filter to have it only display the components you need. Using a filter like

Monitor.Name LIKE 'TheNameofMyMonitorHere'

would likely cover the bulk of your need.

With the above the view you can also edit the resources to display components from different application monitors and different nodes into the one view.

I see what you mention about having sub-pages, if this is a strict requirement then you can use the left navigation pane (select the "Enable left navigation" when building the view) to separate the pages. This should be pretty close to what is needed.

To allow access to the view created, you would add it to the menu bar.

Thank you Erica this is the route I was planning on taking with no other options. The issue in this case is I have 100 components I need to represent and manually creating a view for these components is not something I wanted to have to do.
