Process List (All Processes)

Is there a way to have orion obtain a list of processes and list them. We need the ability to see CPU and Memory utiliziation of all processes. There are times on one of our servers a processes seems to be utilizing 100% cpu or memory and we need to reboot it via a command prompt on another server. I would like to use orion to help track what could be happening.

I don't know of a way to do this, but some button that would launch a real-time view of that would be a really awesome feature.

Hello,
APM is able to monitor only one specific process per monitor, there is no "all processes monitor". However you can easily use "Windows Script Monitor" for this. Write a VB script that will enumerate running processes on target machine. You can use WMI or maybe better in this situation would be simple "tasklist" command. You can execute "tasklist" with filter on processes with high CPU usage and if there are any that cause problems, script would return error and you can set alert on it. Then alert action can be execution of some command that would restart target server.

You could also try to restart server from within VB script but I would do it by alerts to make it more configurable.

I agree, I would love to see something such as this. It gets to be painful having to reboot a server just because it take 30 minutes for windows just to even react to a logon session through rdp or even computer manager from a remote system. Especially painful when no event logs indicate anything out of the ordinary.

we would also love a monitor that just lists all processes and how much cpu and memory they use with historical data.... would probably be too hard but its very useful for example to monitor terminalserver usage and see which programs use the most cpu time

We'd like this as well. This would be great as a troubleshooting tool. Even a top 10 monitor would be a start.

I wouldnt even mind adding all services to APM as we have an ALX but we dont want to get notified if excel is down on a terminalserver :P

This feature was added in SAM 5.0 as the Real-Time Process Explorer. For all customers under active maintenance Server & Application Monitor 5.0 is a free upgrade from APM.
