Hi All,
Have just started evaluating SAM 5.01.
I have setup some monitors on MS 2 node failover cluster (windows 2008 r2), with SQL 2008 r2 installed.
I can connect the virtual cluster interface and have configured the SQL 2005-2008 Perf (SQL) is working fine and all components are detected.
The Windows 2008 Failover Cluster component monitor is also setup and working fine.
Both physical nodes have been added in and the "windows services and counters" monitoring.
When i configure the SQL 2008 WMI monitor on the virtual SQL cluster node, only some of the components are coming through, but most are not, and are in the 'unknown' state.
I have followed the solarwinds wmi troubleshooting guide and i am able to see the WMI SQL classes both locally and from the monitoring server remotely (wbemtest.exe).
After some digging around i noticed that Solarwinds have another tool called "Solarwinds WMI Monitor". I installed this software on the monitoring server and connected to the SQL cluster.
The two monitors that are failing to detect in Orion, and that i have selected to monitor via WMI moniter : Buffer Manager - cache hit ratio, and SQL statistics:Batch Requests/s.
The WMI monitor picks up both values with no issues at all. I am a little confused as to why one Solarwinds product works but the other does not.
Does anyone have any advice or next steps for me to try?
cheers,
Tim
