since i have upgraded to version 5 the monitoring no longer works
if i unmanage then manage any of the devices, it just shows a grey icon with device unknow?
anyone know what i've done?
Can you verify that the Orion NCM Polling Service is running? Also, your might try removing the vendor icon from the node list view to see if that fixes your issue.
well it's set to automatic, but not started,
i have tried to restart it and it fails
the error message while trying to restart it says
could not start solarwinds Orion NCM polling service on local compiter
error 1053: the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion
is ther a log i can look at to get a more detailed reason why it failed?
Are you able to start the Orion NCM Information Service?

the only solarwinds services not running are
TFTP service
NCM polling service
