Installation of APM v.4.0.1

Hi,

I'm new to Orion APM and this might have already been a topic before, but I am installing APM, already downloaded the latest evaluation version (our company has already purchased licenses for the APM) and I have a few questions.

1. I came across the statement: "Use Windows Server 2008 R2 for Orion APM instead of Windows Server 2008... " --> does it mean that APM is fully supported on x64 bit Windows 2008 R2 with SP1?

2. When choosing the destination location, where installation wizard is going to install APM, would installing on c:\ drive be recommended, or would it be better to install APM on the d:\ drive (where there is more space, and the set of drives are not with system/boot files? Orion server is going on its own server, database will go in the dedicated SQL server.

3. What other things (apart from the those in OrionAPM-AdministratorGuide) that you, based on your experience, would recommend?

There are a lot of files, too many to list. Both APM stand alone and NPM stand alone share what we call Core services. When you install NPM and APM on the same server the Core services are the same and the 2 products merge. It is expected for the configuration wizard to state that the same site already exists, you would answer 'yes' and use the same path in INETPUB. Then when you go to your webconsole, you'll see both a network tab and an application tab.

1. Yes, as long as it is R2.

2. Either. There are some common files that will be installed on C:. You can put the other files on either c or d.

3. Other things such as documentation? Perhaps the release notes.

Yet another question. We are also adding, on top of APM, NPM, Storage profiler, Engineer Toolset, NCM (in this order).

Right now I am under an installation of the NPM. I started with shutting down all Solarwinds services and taking a backup of the database. Right at the beginning install wizard reported it had all parameters needed. It was mostly clicking on Next, Next, Next etc,.. until after the website settings when it reported that a same site already exists (APM).

Now my question is. What binaries are in common and shared between APM and NPM and do I install NPM website over the APM website?
