Had a odd problem yesterday whilst reinstalling NCM. We previously ran NPM and NCM together on the same server, but when the server was rebuilt a couple of months ago, NCM wasn't reloaded. After upgrading NPM to v10, we reinstalled NCM 5.5.2. After installation (reusing the old database), I went in to remove a couple of nodes from NCM that didn't need to be tracked and all of a sudden, half our network dropped out.
Our network consists of 14 stacks of Nortel 5500 series switches (1 stack per floor) and 8 of those stacks were reset back to factory defaults, and as a result, dropped off the network. We had go into each switch and reload the settings, but there is still the odd problem being sorted out today.
Has anyone seen a similar problem to this ? Is it a problem with NCM 5.5.2 (particularly in conjunction with NPM 10) ? Is it even something NCM could do, or should we be looking elsewhere ?
Thanks,
Jim
